Mashed potatoes are our families favorite. There are Melissa's mashed potatoes that are a little more rustic, chunky and traditional in regards to flavors. Then there are Ryan's mashed potatoes. They are so full of flavors, smooth in texture and delicious. Both are good but today we are sharing Ryan's recipe. Mashed potatoes, often referred to simply as "mash," are a classic and beloved side dish made from potatoes that have been boiled, mashed, and seasoned.

1 to 2 per person Russet Potatoes
1 stick (½ c) butter
1 to 2 cups heavy cream
salt & pepper to taste
2 c. parmesan cheese grated
1 tsp garlic powder
Ryan will wash, peel and quarter 1 to 2 potatoes per person. We have teenagers in our house so keep that in mind as you make your mash potatoes.
Place potatoes in a pot full of boiling water and let boil for 10 minutes.
Do the fork test on one of the potatoes (if the fork goes through the potato they are done). Take pot from the stove and strain the hot water from the cooked potatoes.
Add cooked potatoes to your bosch or mixer. This step helps you to get a really smooth texture.
Add 1 stick of butter
1 to 2 cups of heavy whipping cream (depending on how loose or think you like your mash to be).
Add salt and pepper to taste
2 cups of parmesan cheese
1 tsp of garlic powder (optional).
Mix well and eat. These are our go to potatoes and our family gobbles them up every time. Hope your family enjoys them as much as ours does.
